Scenario Three Mount Papandayan


BANDUNG, KOMPAS.com - Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation of Geological predicts three potential scenarios of disaster on Mount Papandayan, Garut, which is currently the standby status.

The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation of Geological Surono, Saturday (08/13/2011), in Bandung, said the potential first phreatic eruption accompanied the sudden release of gas
or the occurrence of toxic gas eruptions directed (directed lateral blast).

The second potential, avalanche cliffs around the crater of Mount Papandayan which can trigger lahars. The third is the potential for rain of lava in the event of heavy rain. Currently there is buildup of material previously recorded eruption of about 3 million cubic meters at the headwaters of the River Cibereum and Ciparugpug.
